Stephen Kinnock MP responds to Conservative MP admitting the Tories have broken every manifesto pledge on migration over the past 14 years

Stephen Kinnock MP, Labour's Shadow Immigration Minister, responding to Conservative MP Danny Kruger admitting the Conservatives have broken every manifesto pledge on migration over the past 14 years, said:

"In public and in private, Conservatives are admitting what the public already know: that they have broken every single election commitment on immigration since 2010 - promising pots of gold and delivering magic beans.

"This new private recording shows that Rishi Sunak and his revolving door of Home Secretaries cannot be trusted to manage our borders.

"Labour has set out a practical plan to reduce immigration by placing responsibilities on employers with skills shortages to recruit and train local talent and by reforming the broken skills system to help people into work. And our new Border Security Command will smash the criminal gangs smuggling people into the country, while our Returns and Enforcement Unit will remove those with no right to be here. No more headline-chasing gimmicks like the Rwanda sham - just hard graft, common sense and getting a grip of the immigration system."
