TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to reports that the generational smoking ban is going to be scrapped

Responding to reports that the government is going to scrap the generational smoking ban as a result of the general election, Benjamin Elks, grassroots development manager of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“The decision to scrap the bonkers generational smoking ban is good news, but taxpayers will fear that it won't last long.

“This was an absurd and unworkable policy which would burn a hole in government finances and create two classes of future adults, but there is a real risk that it is only being temporarily shelved.

“Political parties should commit to abandoning this petty authoritarian policy.”
