Commenting on the publication of the Spring Budget Revision for
the 2023-24 Scottish Budget, Minister for Community Wealth and
Public Finance said:
“The Spring Budget Revision sets out the lengths the Scottish
Government has had to go to achieve a balanced budget amid
extremely challenging and volatile conditions.
“High inflation, public sector pay deals, the continued cost of
living crisis and wider geo-political events mean careful
consideration has had to be given to balancing the Scottish
Budget.
“Over £630 million of savings have been identified to achieve
this thanks to active management and reprioritisation of budgets
across the year as we seek to balance the pressures we have
faced.
“Despite the UK Autumn Statement delivering a worst-case scenario
for Scotland’s finances, we continue to invest in key services
and priorities. For example, more than £800 million of additional
funding will be provided to Health and Social Care services,
including £235 million of Capital support, to ensure people
continue to benefit from high quality healthcare provision.
“We continue to demonstrate careful and considered handling of
the nation’s purse strings as we seek to support our social
contract commitment to people across Scotland.”
