Local MP welcomes NFU's ‘shelfwatch’ survey on scottish produce

Gordon MP Richard Thomson is backing NFU Scotland’s ‘Shelfwatch’ survey which is being carried out this week across supermarkets in Scotland in support of Scottish produce. 

Mr Thomson recently took time out to visit NFU Scotland’s event at Aldi’s Beach Boulevard Aberdeen Branch to thank local farmers for promoting Scottish produce and support their efforts in getting the message across to the public. 

Commenting in the initiative, Richard Thomson MP said: 

“This is a very positive move by NFUS and aims to highlight and celebrate best practice where it is found, but also identify where more can be done to promote our excellent Scottish produce.  

“Consumers need to be given the opportunity to support local and Scottish produce wherever they shop.  

“Locally-produced is always best in terms of food miles, but here in the North-east we also know that our farmers produce some of the best and tastiest produce to be found and I look forward to the results of the survey.”
