PM praises Morrisons for Buy British campaign

During PMQs today, Dr Luke Evans, Conservative MP for Bosworth said 121 MPs from across the House had signed his open letter calling on supermarkets to have a Buy British button online. He was pleased to announced that last week Morrisons was the first supermarket to implement this. It gave the choice to consumers to buy home-grown produce and supported British farmers. He called on the Prime Minister to join calls to other supermarkets to follow suit. 

Rishi Sunak said the government would always back British farmers and he welcomed the work done by Mr Evans and the NFU. He absolutely supported calls for industry-led action on this topic and welcomed the Buy British button at Morrisons. The government would continue to encourage all retails to do everything possible to showcase the incredible food produced in this country.
