The following Private Members' Bills were presented today, as a
result of the recent ballot. This constituted their first reading.
The MP responsible then gave a date for the second reading. The
first seven bills in the ballot will each take a Friday date for

Second reading: Mar 1, 2024 Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Bill Bill to make provision for and in connection with restricting the importation and non-commercial movement of dogs, cats and ferrets. Second reading: Mar 15, 2024 Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill Bill to make provision prohibiting the import of hunting trophies into Great Britain. Second reading: Mar 22, 2024 High Streets (Designation, Review and Improvement Plan) Bill Bill to require local authorities to designate high streets in their area; to require local authorities to undertake and publish periodic reviews of the condition of those high streets; to require local authorities to develop action plans for the improvement of the condition of those high streets; and for connected purposes. Second reading: Jan 26, 2024 Pet Abduction Bill Bill to create offences of dog abduction and cat abduction and to confer a power to make corresponding provision relating to the abduction of other animals commonly kept as pets.
