More than £6.5 million has been allocated to support the culture
sector in 2023-24, the Culture Secretary has announced.
The money will support screen, festivals and community projects.
It will also fund public sector pay policy uplifts.
Mr Robertson said:
“Cultural activity is hugely important and we value the
significant positive impact it makes in the lives of people
across Scotland. We recognise that cultural organisations are
facing considerable challenges at present.
“This funding will benefit individuals and communities across
Scotland through our support to programmes like Culture
Collective, and demonstrates our continued investment in screen
and festivals.
“In spite of the incredibly challenging picture, we have
prioritised our investment in culture, to support the sector,
acknowledging its vital contribution to our economy, and to
ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience the
transformative and empowering potential of culture.”
Background
The £6.68 million announced today comprises: £1.5 million to the
Culture Collective programme (via Creative Scotland), £2 million
to Screen Scotland (via Creative Scotland), £250,000 to Platform
for Creative Excellence (via Creative Scotland), £130,000 to the
National Performing Companies Touring Fund and £2.8 million to
fund public sector pay policy uplifts.
