Louise Haigh comments on Claire Coutinho's letter to fuel retailers

Louise Haigh MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on ClaireCoutinho's letter to fuel retailers, said:

“It has been 15 months since government ministers promised they would act on unfair petrol costs. Now we’ve seen what that action is – a strongly worded letter.

“Petrol prices at the pump have soared by 11p a litre since the government last claimed it would act in July, and car insurance costs have soared by 50 per cent in a year.

“Labour would take urgent action on the cost-of-living crisis facing drivers by setting up a tough new fuel watchdog and cracking down on the unfair car insurance practices that are driving up costs.”
