Plaid Cymru urges all governments to “show international leadership” by calling for an immediate ceasefire

A joint statement from Plaid Cymru’s international spokesperson, Hywel Williams MP, and social justice spokesperson, Sioned Williams MS:

“In Gaza there is a catastrophic and deepening humanitarian crisis, with a lack of medical supplies, fuel and water. Plaid Cymru urges all governments to show international leadership by calling for an immediate ceasefire to protect citizens in Gaza and Israel.

“The international community must intensify efforts in establishing aid corridors to ensure the timely and safe delivery of humanitarian support. The Welsh Government must play its part, like other Governments across the UK, by making a contribution to the aid that is so desperately needed, as civilian lives continue to be needlessly lost.

“The UK government must also begin work on the creation of a refugee resettlement scheme for those in Gaza who want to, and of course are able to leave. The international community must use all the tools at their disposal to protect civilians from death and destruction.”
