TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to reports that phase two of HS2 could be scrapped

Responding to reports that phase two of HS2 could be scrapped, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“Taxpayers won’t be raising a glass to a further reduction in HS2.

“It’s been clear since day one that this project was going to come off the rails, yet the government ploughed on regardless.

“Ministers should consider whether even phase one is worth pumping yet more billions into.”
