Stephen Morgan comments on NAO report into school buildings

Stephen Morgan MP, Labour's Shadow Schools Minister, commenting on the National Audit Office's report into the condition of school buildings which has found that 'around 700,000 children in England are studying in schools requiring major rebuilding or refurbishment which can negatively impact pupil attainment and teacher retention', said:

"Labour has repeatedly raised the risk to life that school buildings pose to children and staff but have been met with a wall of silence from the Conservative government.

"Children won't receive a first-class education in second rate buildings.

"It's time for ministers to come clean and tell parents what they know about the state of school buildings and reassure them that children are being educated in buildings that are safe."
