Cabinet then heard from the Culture Secretary ahead of the launch of Creative Industries Sector Vision tomorrow, which will set out ambitious plans to grow the economy and maximise the potential of the UK creative industries.

She said the sector was a UK success story, growing 1.5 times faster than the wider economy between 2010 and 2019. She said technology developed by the UK gaming and film industry was now being used in other areas, including in medicine where visualisations of complex structures was helping develop new treatments.  

Cabinet discussed the importance of the UK’s cultural sector, both to the economy and to levelling up. The Prime Minister concluded cabinet by saying that Government support meant the UK’s creative industry had recovered post pandemic and continues to be one of the most successful globally. 

He said we would not be complacent and welcomed the Culture Secretary’s further work which would secure the UK’s competitiveness for future years.
