Flexi-job apprenticeships take place in sectors and occupations
which often use short-term contracts or other non-standard
employment models. There are 2 types of flexi-job apprenticeship.
Employers and apprentices can use an approved flexi-job
apprenticeship agency, where the agency:
- employs the apprentice for the duration of their
apprenticeship
- arranges placements with host businesses
The ‘conditions of registration’ document shows the conditions
which agencies must meet to arrange apprenticeships through this
route.
Alternatively employers and apprentices can take part in the
portable flexi-job apprenticeship pilot, where the apprentice:
- secures several shorter contracts, of 3 months or more,
directly with different employers
- can pause and restart learning as needed
This can support those working in occupations with less
predictable working patterns.
