Bridget Phillipson responds to reports that teachers are being advised not to discuss Andrew Tate

Commenting on media reports that teachers are being advised by the government not to discuss social media influencer Andrew Tate, despite schools reporting a rising tide of misogyny and sexual harassment from boys, Bridget Phillipson, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, said:

“This is utterly shameful. Yet again this Conservative government is failing to give the leadership our children need and our young people are paying the price.

“Violent, toxic masculinity is being spread among children and in schools, and ministers not only have nothing to say, but think they should say nothing.

“To meet our Mission to halve levels of violence against women and girls Labour is determined to tackle misogyny at every age, and that starts at school. A society where women and girls are not respected is a failing society.”
