This document provides the UK government’s response to the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) review of the UK’s approach to democracy and human rights (January 2023).

The UK government welcomes the Independent Commission for Aid Impact’s (ICAI) review and the ‘green/amber’ assessment. ICAI recognises the positive contribution UK aid programmes have made to address threats to democracy and human rights. We partially accept 1 recommendation and fully accept 4 recommendations of the review. This document outlines our response.
