Details
This release contains information on the number of police
complaints, conduct matters and recordable conduct
matters recorded by the 43 territorial police forces in
England and Wales in the year ending 31 March 2022.
This release includes only case which were finalised in the year
ending 31 March 2022 and handled under the current regulations
which came into effect on 1 February 2020.
This publication includes data on:
- the number of cases and allegations, broken down by breach
types
- the number of subjects who have an allegation against them
and their protected characteristics
- whether there was a case to answer for each allegation
- the action taken for each allegation, including whether it
was referred to misconduct proceedings and the type of proceeding
- the outcome at such proceedings including the level of
misconduct found and any disciplinary actions imposed
- timeliness to finalise cases
- cases which led to criminal proceedings
Data are provided for police officers (which includes special
constables) and police staff (which includes civilian staff,
Police Community Support Officers and designated officers).
These data have been designated as Experimental Statistics to
acknowledge that they should be interpreted with caution and that
further development is currently taking place.
