Peter Kyle comments on the announcement the government is calling new Stormont elections

Peter Kyle MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, commenting on the announcement that the government is calling new Stormont elections, said:

“Tory chaos and neglect has only deepened the problems facing Northern Ireland: it is an abject failure that power sharing has not been restored and elections that nobody wanted now have to go ahead.

“Northern Ireland’s communities and businesses are facing critical challenges, with spiralling bills and public services in crisis. Tacking these issues requires a functioning political system, so whatever the outcome of the elections, all parties must do everything they can to make that a reality.

“The Labour Party will always be an honest broker for Northern Ireland and work tirelessly to find the stability necessary for a bright shared future for all.”
