Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy committee Chair airs Energy Prices Bill powers concerns

Darren Jones, the Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has written to Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg seeking answers over concerns about new powers the Government is seeking in the Energy Prices Bill.

The powers in the Bill, if passed, would enable to Government to modify the licences of energy firms, a power only currently held by independent regulator Ofgem.

The Committee wants to know how and when powers will be used and why they are necessary.
