To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the historic Abraham
Accords on 15th September 2022, the British Prime Minister, and
the Foreign Ministers of Bahrain, Israel, Morocco, and the UAE,
have written poignant contributions for a new publication
published by the UK Abraham Accords Group and ELNET UK.
In the publication, these leaders examine the past two years with
a view towards the future, as the agreement to normalise
relations with Israel continues to achieve success amongst the
signatory nations. The booklet is here: https://issuu.com/elnetuk/docs/2_years_on_from_the_abraham_accords_-_where_next_
It was just two years ago that the historic Abraham Accords,
which normalised relations between Israel, Bahrain, and the
United Arab Emirates, were signed. Morocco followed only months
later with its own agreement. The impact of the Accords cannot be
underestimated with trade, defence, and cultural cooperation
flourishing between the member states in a remarkably short time.
The Rt Hon MP, Chair of the UK Abraham
Accords Group, said: “The Abraham Accords were
a bold and visionary step towards peace in the Middle East. On
the second anniversary of the Abraham Accords, we are impressed
by the spirit of coexistence that is being fostered in Bahrain,
Israel, Morocco, and the UAE between religions, cultures, and
nations. I am confident the UK can play an important role in
expanding the Accords and that our organisation can contribute to
this aim.”
The Rt Hon , Executive Director of ELNET UK
states: “ELNET is proud to be working with the
UK Abraham Accords Group to mark the second anniversary of the
signing of the Accords, a genuinely historic set of agreements.
The benefits are already clear, and we who support peace must
support the Abraham Accords. We advocate for the Accords
with the hope that they will set the template for further
diplomatic agreements and normalisation for other major nations
in the Middle East.”
