Labour responds to Government comments about policing food theft

Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, responding to Government comments about policing food theft during the cost-of-living crisis, said:

“This stark warning comes from a former Chief Constable who the Government themselves have now appointed as the Independent Chief Inspector of Policing. He knows what he is talking about.

“While the cost of living crisis continues to hit families across the country, Ministers should be listening to these concerns rather than trying to shout them down and should take the action we need to support people through this crisis.”
