Government statement in response to the OfS press notice on new conditions

A Department for Education spokesperson said:

“This government has been relentless in its drive to improve quality in higher education. Our biggest reforms in a decade aim to improve outcomes for graduates and give students quality, transparency and fair access.

“We are also taking forward significant improvements with the Office for Students to tackle dropout rates and make sure graduates progress on to jobs or further study, and we will take action where universities do not meet these expectations

“As we continue to drive up standards and clamp down on the pockets of poor quality courses, these new requirements will make sure students complete their degree and go onto a high skilled career that will benefit both them and the economy.”
