Ed Miliband responds to IPCC climate change report

Ed Miliband, Shadow Secretary of State for Climate and Net Zero, responding to the IPCC’s Climate Change 2022 report today, said:

“This report is the most devastating warning to humanity so far about the climate crisis.

“Scientists are painting a vivid picture of the nightmare ahead if we do not act now.

“Their message can no longer be ignored: business as usual means catastrophe in a rapidly warming world.

“But the report is also clear that our destiny remains in our own hands and that there is still time to act - if we do so urgently.

“Governments across the world must now take unprecedented action to bring down emissions and deliver the green energy transition we need.

“Labour's Climate Investment Pledge - £28bn of new investment every year of this decade - would help Britain lead the way, while creating good jobs in new industries across this country.

“Anything less than transformative action is a betrayal of our planet and of future generations."
