Labour demands Prime Minister and entire Cabinet come clean on partygate

The Prime Minister yesterday (12.1.22) finally admitted he was present for at least one of the lockdown-busting events in Downing Street but has refused to answer questions on others. 

Other Cabinet Ministers have also avoided answering whether they attended any gatherings while the rest of the country were in lockdown, or knew about any such events. 

Labour has today written to them all, demanding that they publicly come clean. 

Angela Rayner MP, Labour's Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, said: 

“The Prime Minister has admitted he attended one of the many alleged parties during lockdown but the public deserves to know the full facts. 

“There must be total transparency on this from the Prime Minister and his Cabinet. 

“Bereaved families, our key workers and all those that diligently followed the rules have been insulted enough by the Prime Minister’s lack of truthfulness and the constant stream of revelations about his conduct. 

“It is time to finally come clean and tell us exactly what happened at the heart of Government when the rest of us were following the rules.”
