EAC to hear whether negative emissions technologies can help the UK meet net zero

The Environmental Audit Committee will be taking evidence as part of its new workstream considering negative emissions technologies (NETs).

During this evidence session, which is the first of two considering this issue, the Committee is likely to explore the current technological developments of NETs, their proposed role in government strategies, and the contribution and challenge of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS).

Evidence is being sought over two panels: the first of which will consider the wider role of NETs in reaching net zero; and the second to consider the role of BECCS technology.
