Scottish Greens hail child disability payment launch

Scottish Green social security spokesperson Maggie Chapman has urged families to take advantage of a new benefit for children with disabilities.

From today (Monday 22 November) the new Child Disability Payment will be open for new applications from people who live in every Local Authority area in Scotland. Families of disabled children will be able to apply directly to our new agency, Social Security Scotland, online, by phone, post or face-to-face.

Commenting, Maggie Chapman said: “This new Scottish benefit can provide much needed support to families with children with a disability, and was successfully trialled in Dundee and other areas. But to be effective we need to ensure families take advantage of it. I encourage everyone to check eligibility and to apply for this support.”
