Nick Thomas-Symonds responds to announcement of inquiry into the death of Dawn Sturgess

Nick Thomas-Symonds MP, Labour's Shadow Home Secretary, responding to the announcement of an inquiry into the death of Dawn Sturgess in Amesbury in July 2018 after she was exposed to the nerve agent Novichok, said:

“The use of the nerve agent Novichok on British soil was a deliberate, reprehensible act for which the Russian state was responsible. We must do all we can to prevent such an outrage happening again.

"Establishing this inquiry is a crucial step to ensure that the family and friends of Dawn Sturgess get the answers they need after her tragic death.

"The Home Secretary must ensure that Baroness Hallett has all the support and resources necessary to consider all the evidence and reach conclusions as quickly as possible.”
