Jim McMahon says government's broken promises on transport short-change the public

Jim McMahon MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on the Centre for Cities report that says the government’s so-called “infrastructure revolution” is not enough to improve transport in the UK’s biggest cities, said:

“More than a decade of stripping back services has left people cut off from vital transport links. The Conservatives talk a good game, yet deliver nothing.

“Until we improve transport connectivity across the country, growth, investment and opportunity in our regions will continue to be stifled.

“If the government was serious about unlocking our potential, it would deliver on the promises already made on HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail - not kick the can down the road and hope people don't notice they're being short-changed.”
