The Secretary of State yesterday said the pressures on the NHS
are sustainable.
We have ambulances backed up outside hospitals, patients waiting
hours in A&E,cancer operations cancelled, NHS staff exhausted
after 18 months.
Has there been, in the history of the NHS, a more complacent
attitude from a Secretary of State has we head into winter?
The Minister has refused to trigger so-called plan B, despite
and JennyHarries extolling
the benefits of mask wearing.
What is the criteria for triggering plan B?
Newspapers report a plan C of no household mixing is now being
considered. A lockdown by the backdoor.
So when the Business Secretary ruled out a lockdown yesterday was
that another example of him just making things up as he goes
along in interviews?
The Minister said it’s not something actively being considered to
be used - note the qualifying adverb, “actively.”
We don’t want a return to the dark days of lockdowns, especially
local ones like we had in Leicester, Bolton or Bradford or
regional tiers.
Will she rule them out?
Isn’t the truth the vaccination programme is stalling
Ministers can’t blame the public while 2 million people haven’t
even had an invitation for a booster jab.
On current trends we won’t compete boosters until March 2020.
Instead of doing just 165,000 booster jabs a day, why not set a
commitment to do 500,000 jabs a day and get this programme
completed by Christmas, mobilising pop up clinics and making
better use of community pharmacies?
The third dose for immuno-compromised has been described as
chaotic by charities. Why not allow them to use walk-in centres?
Despite around 10,000 infections a day in children, vaccination
for children is only 17 per cent done, a stuttering roll out
falling behind other nations.
And exposing the folly of cutting school nurses and health
visitors.
And on flu only 36 per cent of over 65s are vaccinated.
We hear of cancelled flu jabs at GPs and pharmacies, what is the
hold up in flu vaccine supplies?
With infections running so high, the Secretary of State needs to
stop vacillating and get vaccinating.
The wall of defence is crumbling.
With this virus you have to get ahead of it before it gets ahead
of you.
How will the Minister fix this stalling vaccination programme?
