Jenny Chapman responds to Cabinet Office announcement of further delays in the implementation of UK border checks

“This announcement shows what we have all known for months – that the government do not have a workable, sustainable answer to tackling delays and red tape at the border. Instead, they are kicking the can down the road once again.

“We cannot have another year of stop-gap solutions, meaningless deadlines, and threats of even greater disruption and economic damage.

"If the government wants to sort this issue out once and for all, they should do what the Labour Party and businesses across the country have been telling them for months: get round a table and negotiate a veterinary agreement.”
