Jonathan Ashworth comments on IFS report on health and social care funding

Jonathan Ashworth MP, Labour’s Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary, commenting on the IFS report on the Government’s funding settlement for health and social care, said:

“Tory MPs are imposing an unfair, punishing and permanent tax rise on working people while failing to detail any credible long term plan to bring the soaring waiting times back to the 18 week standard.

“NHS staff and experts continue to question whether the extra funding announced will be sufficient to deliver the quality care needed. Given ministers are forcing many patients and staff to pay more tax, the least they could do is explain when and how they plan to clear the backlog.”
