MP, Labour’s Shadow Women and Equalities
Secretary, commenting on the GEO’s response to the
consultation on sexual harassment in the workplace said:
“It has taken the government two years to respond to this
consultation. Once again, they are dragging their heals on ending
violence against women and girls.
“The everyday incidences of harassment that create barriers for
women at work must not be ignored.
“We cannot end this injustice without understanding the extent of
it. That is why Labour is calling on the government to collect
data on employment tribunals brought on the basis of sexual
harassment."

Notes to Editors
· In 2018, the Women and Equalities Select Committee also
recommended: “The Government should collect data on the number of
tribunal claims submitted involving allegations of harassment of
a sexual nature and the outcome of such claims. As tribunal data
alone tells only a small part of the story, the Government should
commission large-scale surveys at least every three years to
determine the prevalence and nature of sexual harassment in the
workplace. The findings of each edition of the survey should be
accompanied by an evaluation of measures taken in the preceding
period to tackle sexual harassment, and an action plan responding
to the findings.”https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201719/cmselect/cmwomeq/725/725.pdf
