Angela Rayner comments on Boris Johnson refusing to deny that he uses a private email account for government business

“If the Prime Minister is using a personal email account for government business his rank incompetence and disregard for the rules is putting sensitive information and national security at risk, leaving our country wide open to attack from hostile actors.

“The Prime Minister has already been warned by a former national security adviser about the security risks of running the government by WhatsApp on his personal mobile phone after it emerged his phone number has been openly available online for 15 years, yet he appears to be ignoring these warnings as usual.

“We need a fully independent inquiry into the working practices of Ministers and the security risks created by Ministers using their personal email addresses to carry out their government business.”
