David Lammy responds to launch of the renationalised probation service

"Five years of failed privatisation in probation caused re-offending and created countless new victims of crime. Morale in the service plummeted, forcing experienced staff to quit.

"It is welcome that the Conservatives have finally listened to Labour by renationalising the probation service, but it never should have been privatised in the first place. The Conservatives' failed ideology has made all of us less safe."
