IPPR report on decarbonising transport – Campaign for Better Transport responds

Responding to the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) report published today (23 June), which calls for a shift in the government’s approach to decarbonising the transport sector, Norman Baker from Campaign for Better Transport said:

"Electric vehicles are essential to tackling climate change and air pollution, but they do nothing to cut congestion or help social mobility considering that quarter of households currently have no access to a car. Alongside measures to increase the uptake of electric vehicles, the government must redouble its efforts to boost public transport by investing in services and infrastructure. It must also send the right pricing signals by making public transport cheaper and introducing road pricing as soon as possible."
