Government must keep funding pledge to rail industry to prevent a cliff edge, says transport charity

Responding to media stories on Government plans to end the emergency funding for the railways, Norman Baker from Campaign for Better Transport said:

“Millions of people rely on the rail network and the Government must ensure that services remain in place to support a green economic recovery as we begin to emerge from the current health crisis. The Government should continue emergency funding for public transport services as a bridge to a financially sustainable future and we will hold the Government to its pledge not to cut support off overnight and create a cliff edge over which the industry plunges.”
