Home Affairs Committee: Evidence session with police representatives on violence and abuse towards retail workers

The Home Affairs Committee continues its inquiry into violence and abuse towards retail workers on Wednesday 28 April when it takes evidence from police representatives.

The session will investigate how police forces respond to incidents of violence and abuse towards staff working in the retail sector. It will examine proposals for combatting growing trends in physical and verbal abuse and discuss what Police and Crime Commissioners can do to drive improvements. The session is likely to address the potential for a new criminal offence and to consider the potential of drug rehabilitation services to improve rates of retail crime.

The session will also provide an opportunity for the Committee to examine the work of the National Business Crime Centre and its role providing leadership on business crime.
