Rachel Reeves calls on the Prime Minister to come clean instead of deflecting and hiding from the truth over loan

Rachel Reeves MP, Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, responding to reports the Conservative party gave Boris Johnson a loan to refurbish the 10 Downing Street flat, said:

“This is yet another panicked attempt by the Conservatives to cover up the truth behind the original donors for the luxury refurbishment of the Downing Street flat.

“There are still crucial puzzle pieces missing here, and little logic as to why a trust was needed in the first place if the PM is paying, nor why Lord Brownlow was lined up for chair if his donations were irrelevant.

“Instead of deflecting and hiding from the truth the Prime Minister must come clean and publish the long delayed List of Ministers' Interests, or the stench around who may have lent him up to £200,000 for the refurb - and what favours they may have sought in return - will only grow.”
