Labour to highlight Tory sleaze with Downing Street visit

Labour will highlight the cronyism and sleaze at the heart of this Government by demanding answers from those at the centre of it at Downing Street.

Activists dressed as David Cameron, Rishi Sunak, Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock and brandishing large envelopes of taxpayers’ money are visiting Number 10, asking why the Prime Minister and his Government have allowed dodgy contracts to be handed out to allies and friends of Cabinet Ministers.

Labour has consistently called on Boris Johnson to clamp down on the rampant cronyism they’ve ushered into Downing Street, with countless contracts being handed out to friends of Cabinet Ministers and former Prime Minister David Cameron lobbying the Chancellor directly on behalf of Greensill Capital.

Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Deputy Leader, said:

“Boris Johnson has ushered in a new era of Tory sleaze.

“This government has become infected with sleaze to the point where Ministers either no longer know or simply no longer care about the difference between their personal interests and the public interest.

“The public deserve answers to serious questions about billions of pounds of taxpayers’ money being handed out to Tory donors and cronies and dodgy lobbying for commercial gain.

“An urgent and thorough investigation is needed now to root out this sleaze.”
