Commons Library briefing note on Renewing parts of the Coronavirus Act

Today the House of Commons will consider whether to implement new restrictions to enable the Government’s ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown, renew parts of the Coronavirus Act, continue using virtual proceedings and other ways of working due to the pandemic. They will also debate the Coronavirus Act one-year status report.

The House of Commons Library has published a background briefing, looking at the four motions on:

• regulations relating to public health

• the renewal of temporary provisions under the Coronavirus Act 2020

• the one-year status report on the Coronavirus Act

• an extension to the changes to parliamentary proceedings during the pandemic
