Science and Technology Committee and Health and Social Care Committee: Dominic Cummings to give evidence to joint inquiry

Former Chief Adviser Dominic Cummings will give evidence to MPs on the Health and Social Care Committee and Science and Technology Committee in the joint parliamentary committee inquiry into lessons the government must learn from the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Joint Inquiry Chairs Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP and Rt Hon Greg Clark MP said:

“The Joint Inquiry is examining the lessons that can be drawn from the handling of the pandemic, and applied now and in the future.

“How Government and its agencies dealt with and responded to early intelligence about covid-19 is critical to our investigations.

“We welcome the opportunity to question the Prime Minister’s former Chief Adviser Dominic Cummings about decisions that were taken at the heart of Government.”

The inquiry has examined a range of issues over a number of sessions: the deployment of non-pharmaceutical interventions like lockdown and social distancing rules to manage the pandemic; the impact on the social care sector; the impact on BAME communities; testing and contact tracing. Health Secretary Matt Hancock and NHS chief executive Sir Simon Stevens are among witnesses who have given evidence.
