Alan Whitehead comments on latest figures on the Green Homes Grant scheme

Alan Whitehead MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Energy and a Green New Deal, commenting on the latest figures on the Green Homes Grant scheme, said:

"This supposedly flagship policy has been a fiasco from start to finish thanks to the Government's shambolic delivery, with delays, backlogs, and installers owed money for work carried out.

"With only £125m paid out of the originally allocated £1.5bn, and only two weeks remaining, Ministers are preparing to cut well over £1bn from the scheme - because they're refusing to roll the funding over into the next financial year.

"The figures clearly show there is demand for this. Ministers must urgently fix this crucial scheme and reverse the funding cut. Scrapping this scheme makes a mockery of their green agenda."
