SNP must act now on quarantining and airport testing says Scottish Labour

Responding to Scottish Government comments today that Scotland “could go further” in travel restrictions and quarantining to help stop the spread of Covid, Scottish Labour transport spokesperson Colin Smyth said: “The civil aviation sector supports thousands of jobs in Scotland, and it has been among the industries hardest hit by Covid-19.

“Having voted against airport testing, the SNP has passed up multiple opportunities to ensure the sector has a sustainable future.

“While we welcome the SNP government’s commitment to act on traveller quarantining, we have been asking the Government to do so on this issue since September. They have had every opportunity since then to support the sector in a meaningful way.

“Instead of looking for someone else to blame for their inaction, the SNP government must end this pattern of dithering and act now.”
