Prime Minister praises Rolls-Royce

In Prime Minister's Questions in the Commons today, Jon Trickett (Labour, Hemsworth) praised the great engineering skills in this country, adding that one of the great Jewells in the crown was Rolls-Royce. "But is he aware Rolls-Royce are about to offshore 350 jobs from the North of England? That will be a devastating blow to that part of the country. It is in the national interest to retain those jobs in this country."

Boris Johnson agreed that Rolls-Royce was "one of the great companies in our country." He understood the company was suffering along with the rest of the aerospace sector. "We are keen to work with Rolls-Royce to ensure they have a long-term future as a great British company. He [Mr Trickett] makes an excellent point and I can assure him the government is on it."
