“The comments made today were offensive and outdated. The FA must do much more than simply apologise – they should review all of their diversity programmes and ask whether they go far enough or fast enough.

"I am sure that the FA will be back before the select committee before long, so we will all look forward to hearing about the actions that they have taken to address today’s events."
