Lucy Powell comments on the warning by UKHospitality that pubs, clubs and restaurants are set to lose more than 500,000 jobs by Christmas

“This is a dire warning which underlines the threat to jobs and livelihoods in the hospitality sector. This sector closed to keep us safe, was reopened to help save the economy, and now faces restrictions on capacity and operating hours because the government has failed to control the virus.

“The hospitality sector was viable before this crisis and will be critical to our recovery. Ministers must ensure proper support is in place to save the sector, not turn a blind eye and consign workers and businesses to the scrap heap.”
