Jonathan Reynolds comments on Resolution Foundation report on risk of unemployment for young people

Jonathan Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on a new Resolution Foundation report showing young people are at highest risk of unemployment in the next phase of the pandemic, said:

“We are fast approaching the Government's furlough cliff edge. It is obvious that targeted support is needed to prevent thousands of jobs being lost and families being plunged into poverty.

“The Government has had two months to get the Kickstart scheme up and running but vital details are still missing, including any guarantee that these jobs are new and that they are decent and secure. Young people and businesses cannot afford any more delay and incompetence from this Government.”
