ASCL comment on PM’s address to school leavers

Responding to the Prime Minister’s address to school leavers, Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said:

“We fully support the message of the Prime Minister to school leavers.

“He is right to recognise the sacrifices made by young people because of the coronavirus pandemic. They have missed out on rites of passage that are important parts of the normal journey to adulthood and this is extremely regrettable.

“We also share his conviction that the brilliant teaching they have received has equipped them with the skills they need to have successful and fulfilling lives, and to play a key role in building a better future.”
