GMB comments on IfG report on insourcing of public services

Covid-19 has further made it clear that the policy of outsourcing public services has failed, says GMB Union

GMB has commented on the Institute for local Government report on the insourcing of public services.

Rehana Azam, GMB National Secretary, said:

"Covid-19 has further made it clear that the policy of outsourcing public services has failed.

"High profile contract failures have cost taxpayer millions, while outsourcing has driven down the wages and conditions of key public service workers.

"Public delivery of public services is the way to go. We urge Ministers to listen to the recommendations of this report and engage with outsourced workers and their representatives to secure a better deal for the public and for the workers.”
