Liz Kendall comments on the ADASS 2020 budget survey part 1 Covid-19 response

Liz Kendall MP, Shadow Minister for Social Care, commenting on the ADASS 2020 budget survey, part 1 Covid-19 response, said:

“These findings expose the devastating impact Corvid-19 has had on social care, and the grief and trauma that so many people have been through.

“The Government has been too slow to protect elderly and disabled people and support those who need help most, and ADASS is right to say social care must never be exposed like this again.

“As the country begins to emerge from lockdown, Ministers must understand that social care will be dealing with the consequences of the virus for months to come. Care services must get the resources and support they need to deal with these immediate pressures, alongside the longer-term funding settlement for social care that is crucial to the country’s recovery.”
