, Labour’s Shadow Housing
Minister, commenting on the failure to
meet the Government’s June 2020 deadline for the removal of all
Grenfell-style ACM cladding, said:
“Three years on from the Grenfell tragedy, it shames
Ministers that their target for removing Grenfell-style cladding
from buildings has been missed by such a large margin. Hundreds
of tower blocks are still wrapped in deadly flammable
cladding.
“Today should have marked the end of a three-year nightmare
for residents across the country. Instead, they will go to sleep
tonight in unsafe buildings due to government
inaction.
“Ministers should now live up to the promises made last
year, and take enforcement action against building owners who are
failing to do this work.”

In July 2019, then-Housing Secretary set a deadline of June
2020 for all tower blocks covered in Grenfell-style cladding to
have it removed and replaced. He warned building owners to
“expect enforcement action” if action wasn’t
taken. https://www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/news/government-backs-away-from-june-deadline-for-grenfell-style-cladding-removal-66463
